Lately deep in the fire, specifically woodfiring and soda firing. What keeps me coming back, beyond the amazing community, is the beautiful lack of control. The atmosphere does what it wants and the results are always a surprise.

What atmosphere gives a surface is incomparable, a depth and layering that no other process touches. Building work that invites the atmosphere in, that gives the fire somewhere to go, is a dance with an unpredictable partner.
